RNC Resolution

WHEREAS the Republican Party is unified in revulsion at the abhorrent white supremacist demonstration in Charlottesville on August 12th, 2017;

WHEREAS the racist beliefs of Nazis, the KKK, white supremacists and others are completely inconsistent with the Republican Party's platform that states "all American's stand equal before the law" and their racist agenda has no place in the United States;

WHEREAS we recall that the Republican Party was founded in the struggle against slavery and a rejection of the racial beliefs underlying the institution of slavery;

WHEREAS the Republican Party subsequently led the fight to assure all human beings have equal standing before the law, promoting instead the foundational idea that each person be judged as an individual on merit and not not on the color of skin or other circumstance of birth;

WHEREAS the struggle to affirm the equal moral status of each individual regardless of skin color, while maintaining and nourishing our union as a single people, continues to animate the Republican Party today, especially in these times of racial tension when the country needs to come together rather than divide.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Republican Party welcomes each citizen committed to the struggle both for equality among individual human beings and for a more perfect union among all the people in our United States;

RESOLVED that the Republican Party continues its historical struggle for individual rights and empowerment and rejects intolerance, racism and racial prejudices, policies and promoters;

RESOLVED that the view that the color of one's skin determines or should determine one's standing, rights, opportunities, or duties to others is not consistent with the philosophy of the Republican Party;

RESOLVED that the racist beliefs of Nazis, the KKK, white supremacists and others are repulsive, evil and have no fruitful place in the United States; and

RESOLVED that we urge swift and certain justice be melted out to domestic terrorists and the groups aiding and abetting through the propagation of hateful ideology, whether in Charlottesville or elsewhere.
