SANDY STOKES
What's Happening in Olympia!!! and The Atrocious Behavior of Today's Journalists!!!
SANDY STOKES is the campaign manager for LD 10 House candidate BILL BRUCH. She is the former president of the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association. For nearly 30 years, she was a journalist at the Press Enterprise, a large southern California daily newspaper. In 2004 she and her husband Bill moved to La Conner, where from 2006 until 2017 she was owner and publisher of La Conner Weekly News. Then, for the next three years, until April this year, she was Bureau Chief of the WNPA New Service, supervising reporters who provided daily coverage of our state legislature for about 80 Washington newspapers. It was that experience that brought her here today. Covering the socialist lawmaking in Olympia convinced her it is time to quit being a “professional observer” and do more than just watch the destruction. During her journalism career, Stokes won many state and local awards for news reporting, but the most important was the Key Award presented to her by the Washington Coalition for Open Government in 2014. That award goes to people who fight for transparency and accountability in government.
