Skagit Republicans' Resolution: Support Only Those That Don't Vote for Higher Taxes

At its July 28th meeting, Skagit Republican PCO’s voted unanimously that, going forward, the county party would only support legislative candidates who don’t vote for new tax increases.  State government has increased exponentially over the years, outpacing population growth and inflation. Government must learn to live within its means like the rest of us.  Otherwise, our future will be similar to what is happening in Greece, or closer to home, Puerto Rico.   The resolution is reproduced below. . .

Whereas, The Skagit County Republican Party, as evidenced by our Platform, supports a Constitutional Republic

Whereas, The Skagit County Republican Party, as evidenced by our Platform, supports a limited government, bound by the “chains of the Constitution” (Thomas Jefferson)

Whereas, The Skagit County Republican Party, as evidenced by our Platform, supports minimal bureaucratic interference in the lives of citizens

Whereas, The Skagit County Republican Party, as evidenced by our Platform, believes in individual Liberty, and the Rights of citizens to use their Property as they choose, without encroaching on their neighbors right to do the same.  These Rights include reasonable access to both water and air

Whereas, The Skagit County Republican Party, as evidenced by our Platform, supports a government that only does for citizens those things that they cannot do for themselves;  That derives it’s just powers from the consent of the governed

Whereas, The Skagit County Republican Party, as evidenced by our platform, believes that the constant increasing of revenues for Government is detrimental to the citizens

Whereas, The Republican Party must stand firm on the most basic of our principles, the trust of the voters must not be lost

Therefore, we resolve that from this day forward the organization known as the Skagit County Republican Party should not, and will not, provide either monetary assistance or verbal and/or written endorsement to elected officials seeking reelection to office at the State or Federal level that have supported revenue increases after receiving a copy of this resolution, passed by the Central Committee of the Skagit County Republican Party on July 28, 2015.
