We will be also discussing and voting on important 2024 SCRP Resolutions and the SCRP Platform, and will be electing Delegates and Alternates for the WAGOP State "Endorsement" convention being held in Spokane April 18-20.

The April 18-20 WAGOP “ENDORSEMENT CONVENTION,” is a bold first-time effort that represents a major cultural shift for the Republican Party, and is a Convention you will not want to miss!
In an effort to not split the GOP vote in the "Jungle Primary" to take-back the Republican Party and unify behind the best candidate for each race, the WAGOP is asking the largest gathering of Grassroots Republicans ever in Washington State to choose the Republican candidates.
The WAGOP State "Endorsement Convention" will allow the Convention Delegates to select the top Republican candidates running for state-wide and federal offices.
The goal is to have 2,600 + Grassroots Delegates from all 39 counties around the state to vote and pick their best choice in each of the 10 Congressional races, 9 statewide offices and 1 US Senate race for 2024.

With the WA State Presidential Primary Election coming up March 12, 2024, many are asking questions about the process. The Presidential Primary is a nomination process to help the major political parties choose their presidential nominees. Presidential nominees don’t appear in the regular Primary Election in August. Instead, they advance directly to the Nov. General Election.
Washington State has “Open” Presidential Primaries. There is no party registration, but to vote the voter is required to affiliate with a party via a declaration (check box on the outside of the envelope sleeve) and then only vote for the candidate of that party. This only happens once every four years, and is the only election conducted this way.
The check box affiliation has no bearing on how a voter may vote in the General Election or in any other elections, including future Presidential Primaries.
For all other primaries, Washington uses a “Top Two Jungle Primary” system that gives voters a choice among all candidates running for each office. The August Primary includes local, state, and federal races other than President. The two candidates who receive the most votes in the Primary Election (regardless of party affiliation) qualify for the General Election. Full Article

THE INITIATIVES: Good Government Policy and Simple Solutions
I-2113: REASONABLE POLICE PURSUIT
This measure would remove certain restrictions on when peace officers may engage in vehicular pursuits. Such pursuits would be allowed when the officer has a "reasonable suspicion" a person has violated the law, pursuit is necessary to identify or apprehend the person, the person poses a threat to the safety of others, and those safety risks are greater than those of the pursuit.
I-2111: NO STATE INCOME TAX
This measure would prohibit the state, counties, cities, and other local jurisdictions from imposing or collecting income taxes, defined as having the same meaning as “gross income” in the Internal Revenue Code.
I-2109: REPEAL THE CAPITAL GAINS TAX
This measure would repeal an excise tax imposed on the sale or exchange of certain long-term capital assets by individuals who have annual capital gains of over $250,000.
I-2081: PARENTAL NOTIFICATION
This measure would allow parents and guardians of public-school children to review instructional materials and inspect student records, including health and disciplinary records, upon request.
It would require public schools to provide parents and guardians with certain notifications, including medical services given and when students are taken off campus; access to calendars and certain policies; written notice and opportunities to opt students out of comprehensive sexual-health education; answering certain surveys or assignments.
I-2117: STOP THE HIDDEN GAS TAX
This measure would prohibit state agencies from imposing any type of Carbon Tax / Credit Trading and repeal Cap & Invest program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It also REPEALS the wretched cap-and-trade tax scheme which doesn't do anything to stop pollution or greenhouse gasses and has driven gasoline and diesel prices up $1/gallon. It is a regressive tax that hurts working families harder than rich people.
I-2124: OPT OUT OF STATE-RUN LONG-TERM CARE COVERAGE
People can't afford another payroll tax! Allow working Washingtonians to opt out of the state government's insolvent "long-term care" tax scheme. It's an unpopular and expensive deduction out of working people's paychecks. Benefit is minimal. Taxpayers lose benefit if they move out of state.
These initiatives are not a Republican or Democrat thing. These are people signing of all demographics. The people of Washington, by and large, believe they are taxed too much, and the state is spending out of control. We need to prioritize things.
That’s backed up by tracking the party affiliation of those who signed all six measures, according to Walsh. On average with all the issues, 54% of people who have signed either identify as independent or Democrat, and it’s all races of people. Article

An of course, true to form continuing on the theme from last few years legislative sessions, and to no surprise to anyone, State Dems via the WA State SoS office are sponsoring bills to limit the ability of concerned citizens and auditors to clean up the voter rolls!
SB 5856: Concerning voter registration challenges, this bill has some good things in it but it is also another bill that interferes with genuine efforts to clean the voter rolls.
Right now, when the auditor's letter to a challenged voter is returned as "undeliverable," that voter may be removed from the roll. If this bill passes, a voter that is challenged on the basis of their address may no longer be removed from the roll. The challenged voter would instead be moved to the "Inactive" list and CAN'T be legally challenged. Having "Inactive voters" on the rolls that CANNOT be legally challenged, defeats the purpose of keeping the rolls clean. The voter rolls will become increasingly inflated with inactive voters.
If HB 2030 passes, even cold-blooded murderers like green-river-killer Gary Ridgeway, who murdered 49 teenage girls, would be able to vote and sit on a jury—and even run for elected office. According to Brian Hatfield, who testified on behalf of SoS Hobbs, recently, the office’s interpretation of the legislation suggests that people serving felony sentences could run for office. Redemption is one thing, putting others in harm's way is another. Not surprisingly, HB 2030 is sponsored by Tarra Simmons (Bremerton), a convicted felon herself, who served 30 months behind bars for retail theft, possession of controlled substances, and firearm crimes. WA The Heritage Foundation launched its Election Integrity Scorecard to give states and their residents and lawmakers a clear picture of whether their election laws and regulations meet best practices standards for fair, secure, and honest elections; to illustrate where vulnerabilities exist; and to provide them with information on how to fix them.
The scorecard is an interactive tool that analyzes the election laws of all 50 states and the District of Columbia (since D.C. residents are able to vote in the presidential election) and grades each state on how well those laws protect voters and the integrity of the election process.
The grading system is based on assigning scores (and justifications) to 47 criteria within 12 different areas that are essential to best practices—everything from maintaining accurate, up-to-date voter registration rolls to managing the absentee-balloting process to requiring voters to authenticate their eligibility and identity with effective, reasonable ID requirements. We’ve even included model legislation on many of these standards. Keep in mind that no state got a perfect score of 100 and even the best-ranked states need improvement. Redrawing contested legislative district could cost several GOP state lawmakers their seats
A federal judge is considering five proposed maps for the Yakima Valley district. Republican leaders are blasting the plans, which leave Democrats untouched.
“This is a complete gerrymander,” Senate Minority Leader John Braun, R-Centralia, said after the proposed maps were filed with the court Dec. 1. “It’s just an effort to use the courts as rough cover to pick up a district in eastern Washington without doing a thing to help the Latino community.”
Four of the proposals push GOP Sen. Nikki Torres of Pasco, the chamber’s lone Republican Latina, out of the 15th District into the neighboring 16th. If she wanted to keep serving, she’d have to challenge and unseat fellow Republican Sen. Perry Dozier of Waitsburg in 2024.
One proposed map would make changes as far away as King County. It would move House Minority Leader Drew Stokesbary and Sen. Phil Fortunato, both Auburn residents, from the 31st District into the 5th District where they’d be running for seats now held by Democrats.
The intervenors said many of the shifts “appear gratuitous and intentional.” King and Mosbrucker, for example, are drawn out of their current district by less than one mile and Chandler is moved into a neighboring district by 500 feet, according to an analysis submitted with their court brief.
And Stokesbary, the legal filing states, “sees his neighborhood in South Auburn split in half, with his residence ending up one-half mile outside his current district.” Article

Investigation found that while registered to vote in one town, individuals had reportedly relocated their permanent residences between 2018 and 2020 to different towns and states but continued to vote in their registered town, according to government records. This activity constitutes fraudulent voting under Connecticut election law and is a felony. FVF will be providing 100% of the evidence produced in its investigation to each town’s registrar to assist them in safeguarding elections.
“In order to have confidence in elections, we need to have clean voter rolls, voters need to follow the law, and those that break the law need to be held accountable,” said Linda Szynkowicz, Founder and CEO of Fight Voter Fraud, Inc.

The Skagit Republican Women's group meets the first Tuesday of the month at 10 AM at the Freedonia Grange in Mount Vernon. Next Meeting, Feb 6 Glen Morgan will be a guest, Glen is well know for exposing government corruption via his "We the Governed" articles and videos. Most recently (Sept, 2024) he exposed Yakima City Mayor Deccio as she called 911 trying to stop signature gathering for "far right" ideas like reducing taxes, letting the police chase criminals, or letting parents know what is being done to their kids by strangers when the parents are not around.
