Yesterday, Minnesota Democratic lawmakers, State Representative Melissa Hortman and State Senator John Hoffman, who were shot, had both just voted against their party. They were targeted, and Hortman was killed because they were in favor of repealing healthcare for illegals. This was not a coincidence.
Days before her murder, Hortman, physically shaking, defended her vote as a necessary compromise to secure a state budget, and appeared terrified while speaking to the media after she voted NO on healthcare for illegals. Perhaps knowing at that moment her life was in danger - Video.
Hortman, was a prominent Democratic leader and former House Speaker, and along with her husband, Mark, was gunned down and murdered in their home by a man posing as a police officer, and also hiding behind a mask.
The same gunman, suspected of killing Hortman and her husband, is also accused of shooting Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette in coordinated attacks. In the related murder attempt, Hoffman and his wife were shot multiple times at their home; both are now clinging to life after surgery.
The suspect has been identified as a 2019 appointee to the Governor’s Workforce Development Board by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and remains at large. The assassin’s wife might have been an intern for Walz when he was in Congress, and was detained during a traffic stop, where cash, a weapon, and passports were discovered in her vehicle (via NY Post):
Yesterday’s shooting — to the exact day — was the eight year anniversary of the Alexandria congressional baseball practice shooting, when a left-wing activist shot four people, including then U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.
After hours of emotional debate, as the lone Democrat in the House to join Republicans, Hortman supported SSHF1, a bill removing undocumented adults from eligibility for MinnesotaCare, the state’s low-income health insurance program. This 68-65 vote, with Hortman’s decisive crossover vote, was the only House departure from her party’s Democrat narrative.
The bill then passed 37-30 by the State Senate, supported by Hoffman, and now goes to the governor for his signature.
Supporters said passage of the bill is key to ensuring MinnesotaCare’s financial health. The change is expected to save $56.9 million in the 2026-27 biennium.
Per SSHF1, “undocumented noncitizens who are age 18 years old or older” who are enrolled in MinnesotaCare, would no longer be eligible after Dec. 31, 2025. Undocumented adult immigrants not already enrolled in MinnesotaCare would not be allowed to enroll.
After the vote, Hortman said, “Minnesotans expect that when Democrats and Republicans are elected to co-govern in the state Legislature, that we would compromise and get things done and fund their state government, and that's exactly what we did.”
The assassin left behind a manifesto and a target list naming Hortman, Hoffman, and dozens of other “Pro-Choice” Democrats. The “No Kings” flyers found in the assassin’s vehicle tie him directly to yesterday’s coordinated anti-Trump protests orchestrated across America, which coincided with President Trump’s birthday and with the 250th anniversary of the Army.
OF NOTE: Coming off the heels of the politically motivated 2020 BLM Mass Violent Protests. Yesterday, the well-funded coordinated “No Kings” and ICE protests turned extreme and violent in many cities across the country, including a shooting in Salt Lake City. In Portland, many people got hit by multiple commercial-grade mortar fireworks. The explosives injured police, resulting in several arrests. “The arrests were strictly focused on criminal actions, and not constitutionally protected free speech,” the Portland Police Bureau stated.
Also, in Seattle, violent leftist rioters launched mortars at the federal building and repeatedly assaulted journalists, and other innocent onlookers, including military vets, damaging property and burning the American Flag - all very “peacefully” of course…
Not surprisingly, many want President Trump to be assassinated and for law enforcement to be killed. Sadly, this is now a rally and battle cry of the left.
These leftists who are fueling the violence need to be severely punished. This should also include the likes of California Democratic Senator Padilla, who recently charged DHS Secretary Kristi Noem at a press conference in LA.
All rational thinking humans want law and order. Illegal Immigration enforcement is necessary for the safety and well-being of the people. The rule-of-law is a minimum standard for government to function in any civil society. President Trump and the DHS are doing exactly what the people voted for.
